Excitement. Melancholy. Excitement! Today is de-install day. What a journey!!!

“When There’s Laughter” was my first solo exhibition. I was allowed to create, curate and put together a complete exhibition, from the theme to the hanging of my paintings on a Walker rod system. I devised title cards with QRC’s and my website clicks grew substantially.

And even though it was an unbelievable amount of work, it was lovely, absolutely lovely. The wide learning curve has increased my knowledge of the art world, given me a working network and led to sales. Yes!

I was able to make a nice donation to the Newton Free Library and to Alzheimer’s, because I never want to forget the joy that this exhibition has given me.

I’m so grateful to my family,. Thank you🙏❤️

My Artist Statement has always been about making people smile, just a little, at least on the inside… well that happened for real! So many happy faces! And yes, mine was among them 🙂

There’s a moment in every life, when proud doesn’t describe the overall sense of amazement that one feels. Feel that 🙂

Someone asked me if I ever had a solo art exhibition and it sort of made me laugh.

And guess what, now this is happening:

March 2 – March 30th at Newton Art Gallery.

A solo art exhibition, that will hopefully make you smile, at least just a little bit through a memory, an act of kindness or the audaciousness of life. You have to admit, it’s kinda funny that this is actually really going to be happening. Especially if you know my journey.

I hope you can make it to the opening reception. It’s sure to be a blast 🙂

Laughter is contagious, like a cold, but in a good way.

When we laugh we release a small amount of endorphins and it feels good. Laughter stimulates your heart and lungs with oxygen rich air. Yes, laughter is medicinal.

“The Art of Listening”

Some people just have a way of listening that’s powerful. Making you feel special. As if you’re the only person in a room full of people. All ears. As if what you’re saying will make the world a better place for all of us. It’s good.

Being at a bar and feeling it’s the right place, at the right time is enough. Truth is, some of the best watering holes in the world, sell more than alcohol.

They’re dispensing knowledge along with gin, vermouth & a frothy head of beer.

Is it ok if we order compassion & empathy, stirred & not shaken?

Tonight I stayed home. I’m at an age, where I’m too old to go out clubbing & too young to be in bed before Midnight, so here I am.

Truth is, I’m excited about 2023! And yes, I’m going to be sharing my upcoming projects, my travel plans & I’m going to make work. I’m going to make lots of work. I’m going to sell work & make donations. Because that’s the right thing to do.

And I’m going to make it all look exceedingly easy, so little girls might see me & try, because after a pandemic, isn’t that the whole point?
